The picture quality is very good, perhaps only surpassed by Samsung, but Samsung costs much more. Since I'm using basic cable in this room, I wanted a TV that could display non-HD channels better than my high-end plasma. This TV fits the bill perfectly. The digital, non-HD channels look very good. The "wide" mode allows the 4:3 480i channels to fill the screen without looking too stretched.
