Top 4 Dental Emergencies And what to do when they happen The most common dental emergencies are:#1 Tooth Ache: Rinse your mouth out with warm water. Make sure there is nothing caught between your teeth. Never put painkillers or aspirin near the gums or aching tooth, as it may burn your gums. Call us immediately.#2 Broken Tooth: Rinse your mouth out with warm water and apply a cold compress to reduce swelling. Call us immediately#4 Lost filling or Crown: You may bite into something hard and notice that a filling or crown has come loose or fallen out. If this happens put the crown in a safe place and call us. If a filling falls out leave the tooth alone. Make an appointment with our office ASAP.#3 Knocked Out Tooth: Hold the Tooth by the crown (the top of the tooth), if it’s dirty rinse off the root in water. Don’t scrub it or remove any attached tissue fragments. After cleaning, gently insert and hold the tooth in its socket. If you cannot do that then put the tooth in a cup of milk and get to our office as quickly as possible.
