A Holiday Island With Great Weather And Lots To Offer Holidaymakers
The island of Fuerteventura forms part of the Canary Islands
. The Canary Islands fall under Spanish rule but one of the major attractions is the African weather in a politically steady island forming part of the European Union.Fuerteventura is in fact the most Eastern of the islands and it is closer to Morocco than the mainland of Spain. Due to its location the island it enjoys over 300 days of gorgeous sunshine through the year. During the summer months the average temperature will be about 26 degrees, and during the winter months it will be about 18 degrees. The island lies on the same latitude as Florida and Mexico, and it enjoys a similar climate despite being only a 4 hour flight from any UK national or regional airport. During the colder winter months this is the ideal holiday location for Northern Europeans.
Fuerteventura is mostly a beach resort, and the biggest part of visitors will get together at the shorelines. With over 120 miles of immaculate beaches on one small island, this island has become a refuge for beach lovers and water sport fanatics. There are yearly windsurfing championships taking place here every year, making windsurfing extremely popular here. All of this is improved no doubt by the warm Sahara winds that come from the Atlantic. It is bordered by natural sand dunes, making it very private and therefore very popular amongst nudists. On the other hand if you go on holiday here without travelling inland and viewing the astonishing volcanic scenery you will be doing yourself a major wrong. If you move inland you will get to experience some unique and breathtaking views. You can also take one of the regular boat trips from the island to any of the neighboring Canary Islands and also to North Africa. On top of this you can also enjoy a boat trip on a glass bottom boat from Corralejo in the north down to the nature reserve of Los Lobos. Throughout the trip you can observe up to 130 different species of marine life, and many of them are protected.
The capital of the island is Puerto Del Rosario, and it is located on the East coast of the island. This once small seaport has grown into a busy city but has not lost any of the original appeal. The island is much like the mainland of Spain as it has strict building policies in place to avert the islands scenery being violated by high rise buildings and property developers. The tax free status of Puerto Del Rosario also makes it a haven for shoppers from the UK with some very cheap prices on alcohol, cigarettes and electronics.
The majority of people can with no trouble find the holiday they long for on this small island. Whether it is the clubbing and nightlife opportunities or the secluded inland villa, a family break or a romantic escape all of this is possible in Fuerteventura.
