London has many forms of entertainment on offer for visitors to this city rich in history. While there is always the tried and tested sites of interest such as the Tower of London, depending on the time of year of the visit there are off the beaten track things of interest to do.
Though stoic and staid in its historic background London has now developed into a more hip city where if it is summer open air theatres such as the one at Regent's Park and cinemas such as The Scoop, Film4 Summer Screen and BP Summer Screens are available, weather permitting of course.
Think of London and instantly pops to mind gloomy cold weather, but this is not the case during summer where eating al fresco is actually an option. To enjoy food in the warmth of a British summer try the Edinboro Castle which is situated close to Regent's Park with an amazing Beer garden or the Garden Gate which is just a few minutes from Hampstead Heath and has a garden for all seasons'.
One of the best ways to experience London is by joining a walk' which is a great way to see all the places of interest in London. The best is that a walk can be chosen based on individual interests. For instance the tour that covers places of interest to Charles Dickens, such as the Dickens's house, Gray's Inn where he worked as a clerk, Saffron Hill that has importance in his novels and the Borough. This is one example of the type of tour that can be selected with there being many different types of London walks on offer, covering different aspects of London past and present.
If visiting during winter months do not despair, London still has much to offer. Ice skating rinks appear all over the city such as the Natural History Museum Ice Rink, the Sommerset House Rink or the Winter Wonderland Hyde Park rink just to mention a few. Children would especially appreciate seeing the huge Christmas Tree, at Trafalgar Square, put up each year as a present from Norway for help done during WWII. Switched on, on the first Thursday in December the tree is usually over 20 meters high.
For more cultural entertainment visitors can take in a performance of the Nutcracker done by the English National Ballet during the Christmas season. This has been done for over 50 years. London has many art galleries on offer such as the Tate Modern and the Tate Britain. Tate Modern houses contemporary art while the latter has British Art dating back from the 16th century to the present day. The National Portrait Gallery and the National Gallery in Trafalgar Square are other options worth checking out.
London is home to the O2 Arena which plays host to some of the world's hottest events. It has a capacity of 20,000 and amazing acoustics which have helped make this venue extremely popular. From sporting events to concerts the O2 Arena London is the venue for all.
