Beside them one can also see Sambhar, Bison, Tigers and Malabar Flying Squirrels etc. The best time to visit this place is between October-June.
Kumarkom Bird Sanctuary: It is located on the banks of the Vembanand Lake and is very popular for watching migratory Siberian Cranes. One can see a wide variety of birds which come here from different parts of India. Birds like Waterfowl, Egret, Heron, Cuckoo, Larks and Wood Beetle are the major attraction of this sanctuary. The time to visit this place is between June-August while one can watch migratory birds between November-Feburary.
Eravikulam Wildlife Sanctuary: It is located in the Idduki district along the Western Ghats just 17 km from Munnar. This reserve was established for the conservation of the endangered species of Nilgiri Thar. This park offers a mesmerizing view of nature along with rare flora and fauna in their natural habitation. Beside that it is also a home to Atlas Moth, Elephants, Sambhars, Gaurs, Lion tailed Macaque, Nilgiri Langur, Tigers and Leopards.
Aralam Wildlife Sanctuary: It is situated in the south east part of Kannur district and it is northern most wild life reserve of Kerala. Tourists can enjoy a wild safari in the tranquil atmosphere of the sanctuary. It is known for different types of squirrels. One can also spot Leopards, Jungle cats, Herds of Deer, Elephants and Bison. The best time to visit this reserve is between October-June.
