For many of us who are overweight, losing that unwanted fat is a rather uphill task. I'm sure many of you, yours truly included, have had gone through numerous diet programs only to do it half way and started to pile up more weight thereafter. So the cycle continues with no light at the end of the tunnel.

I've been there and I know how difficult it is to lose weight. It's easier said than done indeed. It seems that the desire to adorn that size 4 pretty dresses alone is not enough. The process become even more harder because out there it seems that only those with ample money and time are able to pull it off successfully. That's why only, it seems, huge movie superstars are able to lose weight effortlessly and that was because there have assistance, nutritionists and personal trainers hovering around them to ensure that they attain their desired weight and stays that way forever.

But really, losing weight is not about money and time. It's about how you go about achieving your target. And like many things in life, you need to have a clear plan and systematic approach f you want to lose weight. Back to basics, if you will (it works for me - lost 15 pounds in the last two months - and I'm sure it will work for many of us out there).

Approach number one is not to go on diet but rather change your eating habits. Instead of worrying about losing weight, I found it is more effective to focus on eating healthily. Any diet or weight loss product that doesn't teach you how to improve your eating habits is not going to solve your weight problem.Most of the time most dieters don't eat enough, most refrain from eating normally and before we know it, we get hungry fast and give up our resolution to lose weight. Don't go hungry, hunger makes us fat. Instead, change our eating habits. Eat more healthy food and stick to it.

Approach number two - You heard about a saying that Rome was not built overnight or something? Same thing applies to dieting. Most of us expect quick results it's ridiculous. Remember, it took years to pile up those fats and it takes even longer to get rid of it. But more often than not most dieters want to lose weight too fast. Result? They get so impatient, they give up.

Approach number three - Be smart. Sure, there are so many different fad diets, weight loss plans, diet pills, supplements and other weight loss products to choose from. More often than not, these weight loss products and services are not the answer to your weight problem. That's why you need to learn about your body first and determine what you need to do to lose that weight. Perhaps you can consult your doctor and decide which route to take. Maybe you need to take that road less travel to achieve your goals and it may take longer to reach your destination. If that's the case, so be it. We want the results, yes?

Approach number four - Exercise. No matter which way you look at it, exercise is important in a weight loss process. Yes, being overweight, most of us detest doing physical activities but you just have to do it. NOW. But just think of its results - you not only will be thinner but healthier too. And trust me, you'll love exercising after doing it constantly and regularly. In conclusion, just remember that any diet plan or weight loss program that offers a short-term solution to your weight problem is not likely to lead to permanent weight loss.
