Why Holidays To Goa Are Out Of This World

Holidays to Goa are a very popular choice and will whisk you off to the shores of the Arabian Sea and the beautiful west coast of India

. Whichever part of Goa you choose to visit, you'll find a wonderful relaxing way of life and some naturally beautiful surroundings.

Goa is the smallest state in India and can be found in a region known as Konkan; it is bordered to the south and east by Maharashtra and the north by Kamataka. Its history dates back to the 3rd century BC when the region belonged to the Kingdom of Kadamba. Goa spent nearly 400 years under Portuguese rule and retains many of its influences today; it wasn't until the 1960's that it returned to Indian government.

It was during the sixties that Goa became popular with the hippy culture due to its easy pace of life and laid back charm, with the country still attracting many backpackers and travellers to its carefree coast every year. Families are increasingly attracted to the beautiful beaches and long lazy days that holidays to Goa provide. Many Indians also choose Goa for their annual holidays making the region feel vey authentic.

Baga Beach and Calangute are two of the slightly livelier resorts in the north of Goa and attract those looking for a vibrant twist to the relaxing Goan life. Picturesque little villages nestling among palm trees blend perfectly with the modern structures of hotels and guest houses. You'll find bargains galore at the local bazaars with clothes and shoes being much cheaper than here in the UK.Why Holidays To Goa Are Out Of This World

Secluded bays or vast sandy beaches provide the ultimate in sunny relaxation, while water sports create an energetic diversion for those who can be bothered to leave their sun beds. It's worth checking the conditions before you take part in the water sports though as the currents can get quite strong in these parts of the world.

In southern Goa is the popular resort of Kerala, a hidden paradise with palm edged beaches, winding rivers and lush paddy fields with hundreds of wildlife and colourful birds. Stroll along the soft sandy beaches at sunset and stop for a romantic supper at a beachside restaurant. Kerala remains unspoilt, uncommercialised and totally at peace with the world.

The fantastic beaches are a highlight of any holidays to Goa, but there is still plenty to do if you feel like doing a bit of exploring. The capital town of Panaji gives a wonderful insight into every day life in Goa with colonial buildings and fascinating history.

The Dr Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary is close by and just one of many beautiful national parks worth visiting on holidays to Goa. There are elephant sanctuaries and jungle safaris to enchant and excite even the younger family members and plenty of stunning wildlife to observe.

A visit to one of the top tourist attractions is an absolute must on all holidays to Goa; the Dudhsagar Waterfalls are absolutely stunning and especially beautiful during monsoon season when the raging waters cascade wildly through the jungle terrain. Why Holidays To Goa Are Out Of This World

Shopping in Goa usually means an exciting trip to the local market or bazaar with the flea market at Anjuna, on the beach every Wednesday, one of the best in the country. Leather goods, ethnic clothing, jewellery and wooden carvings are all great value for money at the markets on Goa holidays.

Goan, Indian and Portuguese influences can be found throughout the country and no more so in the culinary delights youll find on menus here. Sea food is a speciality in this part of the world, as are the mouth watering curries found anywhere from first class restaurants to authentic little shacks along the beach.

Whether you're looking for all inclusive luxury or just stopping off on your world wide travels, holidays to Goa are out of this world. The laid back lifestyle is infectious and youll soon find yourself yearning for that hammock on the beach with just the sun and the lilting Indian music wafting through the air for company.
