With the PPO, you have several advantages as you are offered a wide array of choices for physicians. Depending on your health track record, you can identify the physicians from your list and leave out the ones that you dont need immediately.
There is no such limitation like the HMO plan where even if the plan covers a part of the cost, they may require you to foot the entire bill for doctors outside their prescribed list.
You can also get referrals with PPO and you do not have to report to the primary care physician. With the HMO, you would be under the primary care physician and he or she may not be equipped to deal with your type of health problem. But the PPO is slightly more expensive, but looking at the advantages, a health PPO is a better bet with a wide range of choices.
