This forum had asked a very provocative question: cast your vote for America's worst President and explain your reason why. Rushing in where angels fear to tread, I suggested George Washington for two reasons: 1) He was a principle author of the U.S. Constitution which rejected the ruling authority of God in favor of "we the people, and 2) outlawed the primary Biblical requirement for civil government requiring the magistrate to swear allegiance to govern by God's law. This I noted was the foundation for all the other evil, socialist Presidents of the 20th Century.
After about an hour I noticed that my comment had been removed from the forum, although my tone was quite mild compared to other comments about other "worst presidents." So I posted it a second time and noticed the next day that my post had again been removed. Huh??
Two weeks later, when summarizing the 1000+ comments he received on the topic, the webmaster commented, "Your remarks have run the gamut from the sublime (those that agree with me, of course) to the ridiculous (the worst President in history was the first one George Washington?)." There ya go!!
Evidence Against Washington's Christianity
I wrote back to the moderator reminding him that conservatives believed Lincoln also to be "untouchable" (Honest Abe) until a few years ago when Thomas DiLorenzo wrote, "The Real Lincoln" and Lincoln's hypocrisy was unveiled. Likewise, George Washington falls far short of the Biblical standard for civil leadership for these and many other reasons:
1) Mature Christians of his day were able to read Washington like a book. Evangelist John Wesley studied the situation and did not hesitate to describe Washington as "vile" and a "hypocrite." James Abercrombie, Washington's pastor during the 8 years of his Presidency, was likewise blunt in denying that Washington was a Christian because he refused to participate in the Lord's Supper. With few if any exceptions, one searches Washington's voluminous body of writing for any mention of a personal relationship with Christ or the Lordship of Christ over the nation.
2) As noted above Washington led the movement which created the document (the U.S. Constitution) that made itself instead of the Bible, "the supreme law of the land" (Art VI, Sec 1).
3) Washington served for many years as Grand Master in the Masonic lodge, taking many anti-Christian oaths, which mark him as a heretic from the Christian faith.
4) He had no compunction about leading his army in battle on Christmas Eve, which was considered a period of "ceasefire" or truce under the rules of warfare among Christian nations of that era.
Washington valued style above substance. He was intellectually shallow because he spent most of the day cultivating his public image. That involved practicing his horse tricks, practicing dancing, practicing rock throwing and preening his appearance.
