The milk is packed with disease fighting antioxidants that protect your baby from different types of illnesses. Let us have a look at some of the reasons for feeding your baby with breast milk.
Protects against illnesses
The first benefit is that it protects your child from long term illnesses. It also strengthens the immune system of your baby. Global studies show that drinking mothers milk leads to less viruses and infections. It is best to do exclusive breastfeeding without any additional food and water for the first six months for promoting normal growth of the baby. Studies show that children who are breastfed have a lower risk of dying between 28 days and one year. The child is healthier when it is fed with mothers milk.
Protects baby against germs
Milk from the mother contains an important constituent called colostrum. This component guards the baby against germs as it forms a protective layer on the mucous membranes of the babys throat, nose and intestines. The milk is specially tailored to the requirements of your baby. It protects the baby from illnesses and it reduces the risk of childhood cancers as well. Scientists think that mothers milk contains antibodies that giver a boost to the immune system of the child.
Protects against diabetes
Breastfeeding also protects the child form contracting certain types of diseases such as bowel disease, type 1 and type 2 diabetes and high cholesterol. Babies that are fed with mothers milk are less likely to develop high blood pressure by the time they reach the adolescent stage. Babies who are not breastfed are not suffer from malnutrition but they are also prone to diereses such as ulcerative colitis and Crohns disease.
Prevention of allergies
Milk also protects the baby from developing allergies. It provides a protective layer in the intestine so that it can protect against allergic reactions of food. This layer of protection helps ward off inflation, allergies and other health issues. It boosts the babys intelligence from birth to six years. The IQ score of children who were fed with breast milk was much higher than children who were not fed with breast milk for at least 6 months. It is because of breast feeding that emotional bonding develops between the mother and the child.
Prevent common disorders
Studies further show that breastfeeding protects your child from other disorders such as obesity. Breast milk contains less insulin which promotes the creation of fat. Most importantly, breast milk lowers the risk of your child suffering from sudden infant death syndrome. It reduces the chances of SIDs in half in babies who are breast fed.
Breast milk should be fed as long as possible for the normal growth of the baby and to reduce the chance of getting SIDs and other disorders.
