Which Should I Buy? A Safety 1st Or Fisher Price Baby Monitor?

Which Should I Buy? A Safety 1st Or Fisher Price Baby Monitor?

Just as with any other piece of electronics you can buy

, there are various different brands available on the market for you to choose from. When it comes to a digital baby monitor, this is no exception. With plenty of television commercials, newspaper advertisements and word of mouth from friends and family, it can be difficult to make decisions regarding what brand or model you should purchase. You've likely already decided that you are going to get a digital baby monitor because it is the latest and greatest in technology for these products, but which one of the dozens available are you going to settle on? This article will review three comparable models from three different brands.

First we have the Safety 1st Sound View Monitor, which carries a price tag around one hundred dollars. This product is comprised of one transmitter and one receiver, which you can use to survey one child or room. The transmitter is small, so finding space for it to be placed is no issue. The receiver is small, too, and can be transported with you due to its handy belt clip. It has a low battery indicator and sound level indicator lights, so it makes use of visual as well as sound signals to alert parents. It can be wipes clean with a dry cloth and contains rechargeable batteries.

Next is the Fisher Price Baby Monitor, specifically the Iwear, which costs approximately 50 dollars, half of the cost of the former. Like the Safety 1st one, this product keeps tabs on your child without carrying a huge receiver from room to room. Unlike the belt clip that the Sound View uses, this item has more flexibility- it can be placed on the belt, too, but also can be worn on the wrist or arm with the bands provided. The Fisher Price baby monitor is very sensitive to sound from your child and sounds from motion. It features an out of range indicator light, operating distance of 800 feet and rechargeable batteries.

It seems that with these similar models there are similar reviews of their performance. With both items, users have complained that signal reception is poor and that longevity is lacking. Users of the Safety 1st product have whined about poor quality materials which decrease durability, and have even reported that their purchase stopped working with a couple of months. Users of the Fisher Price baby monitor have raved about the wristband/armband capability and the range associated with the receiver. They have also mentioned issues with the battery keeping a charge, but stated that when contacted, the manufacturer sent a new product to them. While the Safety 1st product had no positive reviews, the latter had an equal number of good and negative comments.

Which model you buy, whether the Safety 1st or the Fisher Price baby monitor, is ultimately up to you. With similar complaints surrounding both, I personally would buy the cheaper one, which is the fisher price baby monitor. Though there were negatives associated with both, why spend twice as much for a product that had no positive reviews?
