Where will Brits head for their holidays in 2011

?

It seems that as the severe weather is deemed as a distant memory and warmer weather fronts are coming our way (I've even been witness to the odd bit of Spring sunshine!) it seems many of us are thinking about booking our Summer holiday, and that doesn't mean a staycation'. A lot of us in fact are dreaming of some sunshine, Monarch for instance have reported a 27% increase in Summer holiday bookings this January compared to last. Good news for the travel industry and good news for us too as holiday companies are putting on additional routes and services over the Summer months and countries are seeing a drop in resort prices. So the question is where will the UK holidaymaker be going this year? Where will us Brits head for our holidays in 2011? Will we be staying in Europe or heading off for more exotic long haul destinations? Well, last year, 2010, the top holiday country, unsurprisingly was Spain. With Islands such as Majorca, Mallorca and Ibiza being very popular. France was hot on its heels. Followed by Cyprus, Greece, Italy, the USA, Turkey, Egypt, Croatia and Thailand. The predictions across the UK holiday market for 2011 aren't dissimilar to last year. With the increase of Air Passenger Duty last year the least affected flights are the short to mid haul journeys, so destinations such as Tunisia are expected to see an increase in popularity due to its diverse range of history, culture and roasting Summer temperatures. According to a recent survey, Portugal is going to give incredible value for money this year out in resort according to said research costs have fallen in some resorts by as much as 49%! Turkey is predicted to see rise up a few places in the top 10 of places to holiday this year as according to the aforementioned survey, prices have dropped by around 20%. So not only does it continue to offer good value for money but also offers a cultural mix of city breaks and beach holidays, culture and again, soaring temperatures. Due to the success of the World Cup last year, hosts South Africa are expecting to see an increase in UK tourism as it seems the British are more and more influenced by sporting events. Equally, whilst Spain is the No. 1 destination for UK holidaymakers, visitor numbers have fallen year on year for the last two years. As a result the country is actively trying to encourage us Brits back to their shores with prices in resort falling. Mexico has suffered over the last few years, with the country being blamed for the outbreak of Swine Flu. As a result there are some excellent deals to be had. It also seem that the travel industry is expecting to see a rise in the number of all-inclusive breaks booked this year too. Offering exceptional value for money, especially for families (when children seems to want an endless supply of ice-cream, food and drinks!), even those on a budget can budget' to afford a get away in a European all-inclusive resort. So this year, when looking into your Summer holiday perhaps consider somewhere a little different than the conventional holiday resort - either way, be sure to grab yourself a bargain! Happy holidays!
