Fear not, there is rent payment help out there for you, you just need to find it. Here are a few simple suggestions that may work in the short term, until you are back on your feet.

1. Try to negotiate with your landlord, sometimes they will understand your situation and attempt to help you. They may allow you to pay some now and some later, work off part of the rent, or temporarily lower your rent. 2. If you are single or have a spare bedroom, take in a roommate or renter. Use the money they pay you to cover the rent, and make it clear to them whether you consider this to be a long or short term arrangement.

3. Go to your family and friends for a small loan. Yes, it is embarrassing, but what is worse; getting help paying rent, or being evicted? Besides, family and friends are usually willing and eager to help you, if you need it.

4. Pay day loans and small personal loans from your band are two other options. While they do require that you have a job, and they will add another bill to your budget, they can temporarily solve your problem and give you time to work out a more permanent solution.

5. The Legal Aid Society can help with preventing you from getting evicted. These free legal services are offered throughout the U.S. for those who cannot afford to pay a lawyer's fees.

There are also many charities that help pay rent, some on a one-time basis and others may simply have a dollar limit. These are grants and you do not have to pay back any of the money they give you. You just have to know where to look.

1. Many areas have one or more local charities that may be willing to assist you. You will have to research the area in which you live

2. Catholic charities will sometimes help you with emergency funds that you can us for rent or other necessities. Contact them to apply.

3. St. Vincent De Paul is a rather small group and does not have as many locations as Catholic charities. You do have to visit them in person so research your own state for locations.

4. Modest Needs is an organization of private donors that offer assistance to people in need. You do have to have a job in order for them to help you. You can find the information online.

5. Salvation Army will help you one time, if you can get to them when they have funds available. Visit them in person to inquire.

Government programs that help pay the rent:

In some cases, you can be approved for government assistance programs that can help to pay your rent. These programs are accessed through your state and local government, with many being subsidized by the Federal Government.

1. Your local Social Services office can direct you to all of your area's short term assistance programs. You will have to apply and be approved.

2. Section 8 Housing Vouchers are available to assist with rent and utilities, although they generally do not cover the entire amount and the remainder is up to you.

3. Subsidized housing from private owners is available in some areas. What this means is that the property owner receives a tax break for renting to you at an amount that is based on your income.

4. Government Subsidized Housing consists of apartments that are directly owned by the government and are for those with extremely low incomes. There are generally waiting lists to get into these apartments, but if you obtain one the cost is substantially less than any other rental property.

5, Your state receives grants from the Federal Government, that helps them to provide low income or income based housing to local residents. If you are in need, apply to any and all of these programs that help to pay the rent. The more options you have, the more likely you are to find the one that is right for you.
