We all know that there are thousands of DVDs available to rent from online DVD rental companies around the UK but how do you know which films are available where?
The facetious answer is to check their websites but obviously you can't do this for every single film.
The clever way to do it is to have an idea about who stocks your favourite labels and studios and to take it from there.
You can easily check if a certain site stock horror and world cinema specialists tartan video for example, and then go from there.
There are also some services that you can legally watch online as DVD rentals from sites such as Lovefilm which have different deals with studios such as Warner Bros.
Other big providers such as Sky have different deals - these can sometimes be found with a minimum of investigation although sometimes it takes a little more work.
At the moment Sky has a number of exclusivity deals with most of the major movie companies meaning that Sky can offer films on demand before they are on general release, whilst other competitors are often left behind.
At the moment Sky still has the upper hand but Lovefilm have made a massive step in the right direction, teaming up with Warner Bros will expand what is and already impressive streaming library.
A lot of film and DVD sites exist to take the strain out of this kind of thing by letting people know about the availability of certain films.
In that case the DVD rental site is giving its customer the chance to stream some of Warned Bros films including Batman Begins, The Matrix and the Wedding Singer as well as new releases such as The Clash of The Titans.
Some DVD rental sites are already able to offer 67,000 films so there's no scarcity of choice and it's becoming harder to use the label method to check.
Another way to see which DVDs you can rent online is to check by doing a search for your favourite actor or director. If you find that their films are fairly well represented then it's likely to be a service that you can get on board with.
Similar actors making the sort of films you like already are likely to work with the same studios so that also makes it a safe bet.
It's also worth noting that when it comes to blu ray rental there are considerable differences between the online dvd rental websites in terms of those they have to offer.
