Weight Loss Programs - How To Get Started With A Weight Loss Program

So your goal is to start a new weight loss program

. You have read a dozen different magazines and articles with the basics of nutrition and fast fat loss workout plans. And now you are ready to embark on your fat loss adventure to lose stomach fat! But you are just not quite sure how to begin.

Starting a program to lose weight can be a little overwhelming at times, especially if your nutrition habits need some work and you are not used to exercising regularly. But like all great achievements, losing stomach fat and getting in great shape is best accomplished in small- yet definite- steps.

Rather than overhaul your entire diet and dive head first into five hour-long workouts per week right from the outset, try beginning with one or two small fat loss modifications to your lifestyle every two weeks. The idea here is to form good weight loss management habits that stay with you for life. There are no fads in fat loss, only great habits and lots of determination.

Let us first start with an exercise example. Then I will give you a simple nutrition habit that is the basis of any good fat loss nutrition plan.

Even if you have a workout program with, say, four workouts per week, I would suggest starting really slowly at first. Honestly! I would say try only one or two of these workouts per week for the first two weeks or so. The worst thing you can do is burn yourself out before you even really get into the program. Also, starting with one or two workouts per week will help to ensure that you have set an achievable goal. If you jump head first into it and try to do 3 or 4 workouts the first week, by the second week you'll either be injured, burned out, or you'll be discouraged because you missed a workout or two.

As a nutritionist and a climber, I often transition from one workout to another depending on the time of year. For instance, a few weeks back I started a training program for climb I have coming up in January. Eventually I'll be doing five workouts per week, but for the first week I kept it to only two. My reasoning for that was simple: to prepare my body for the more intense workouts coming up while not burning out too soon. I personally find that this approach to starting a new workout program works best.

Now here is a simple fat loss habit for nutrition. If you aren't already, you should probably be taking a multivitamin each day and at least 2-3 fish oil capsules each day (you can even buy ones that don't have any fishy taste). Just taking these two things on a regular basis has been known to kick-start the fat burning process and help get people more motivated in their fat burning program. (Fish oil has also been known to help with dozens of other things, including depression, joint pain, and heart disease to name a few).
