Wedding Insurance Tales From The Crypt... When Limousines Go Bad

If you haven't yet sorted out your wedding insurance

, then you'd probably better not read this article. Just go and make yourself a cup of tea everything will be fine. If you do have wedding insurance already, then enjoy the following tales of calamity with a certain sense of smugness. Always remember, where a wedding is concerned, if a thing can go wrong, it will go wrong, and usually in the most unexpected way.

For example, Nigel and Karina's wedding was planned down to the last balloon, with everything set for the big day. On the Friday morning before the wedding the anxious Bride popped in to the Church to double check everything was well, and was relieved to discover that it hadn't blown down in the night, the vicar hadn't run off with the Church Warden and a minor earthquake hadn't struck lately.

The wedding day dawned, and Karina was collected from her home in a beautiful white stretch limousine. Unfortunately, her journey was cut short as the limousine was unable to get her to the church on time or at all. It transpired that shortly after Karina had visited the church on Friday the water company visited to dig up half the road. The limousine was completely unable to navigate the obstacle course, and had to drop her off about two hundred yards away, forcing her to stagger in her flowing wedding dress all the way down the street to the church.

This hadn't been planned for, and she was wearing neither the shoes nor the dress for a hurried and somewhat anxious walk down the street. Unfortunately in her effort to get to her own wedding on time she tripped, fell and broke her arm.

As a result the entire wedding had to be postponed, at considerable cost. Although Karina hadn't foreseen the water company's eagerness to destroy the road, she had organised wedding insurance, and so the entire bill for rescheduling the wedding was covered.

Limousines featured in Mike and Irene's disaster day too. Mike was already shifting nervously from foot to foot waiting at the altar when the priest handed him a note. His heart sank when he read what it said. Apparently his wife to be couldn't be found.

It transpired that the limousine driver had been driving round in circles and couldn't find the address. He did know where he was to take the Bride, and so called the church to explain. Directions were then hastily passed back, and the limousine driver tried to follow them.

Unfortunately by the time he found the Bride it was too late, because another wedding was schedule for only an hour later, and time had run out. The wedding had to be rescheduled, although they didn't bother re-booking the same driver.

In both of these cases it would have been quite impossible for anyone to foresee the disaster, and little that could have been done in either case. There's simply no way you can prepare for every conceivable situation, because fate will always invent another one for you. That's why having decent wedding insurance makes a great deal of sense, and helps turn a disaster into a story you can tell for years.
