Coimbatore is connected with other cities through National Highways NH47, 67 and 209. Five Highways NH45, 45B, 67, 210 and207 pass through Trichy. There are two road routes from Coimbatore to Trichy. Distance is 212 km using NH81 via Karur and 249 km using NH83 via Dindigul. If one opts for NH81 route, take NH181 from (24 km) to be on NH83. After 22.9 km on NH83, take NH 81(131.7 km), State Highway SH71 (6 km) and NH81 (30 km) to reach Trichy. Driving time will be 4 hours nearly. Taxis will charge Rs 10/- to Rs 37/- per km for one way journey, with running time of 4 hours. For a round trip from Coimbatore to Trichy including sightseeing at Trichy charges vary from Rs 4550/- for Tata Indica to Rs 6643/- for Tata Innova. There are private buses for travelling from Coimbatore to Trichy with running time 5 hours approximately. Per head bus fares range from Rs 250/- for a/c seater to Rs 700/- for Volvo a/c seater.
