In completely different directions from each other if flying from the UK, as well as being in different directions in terms of their north and south locations and very dissimilar in a variety of other aspects, Canada and Australia are by far two of the best countries for anyone to immigrate to.
Although the two countries both have their differences (most notably the climate - Canada's is a lot more like the UK whilst Australia's is renowned for being hot and relatively dry), they also have their similarities, which are the reasons why hundreds of thousands of people immigrate to them each year.
Take both countries' health care facilities as an example. Both Australia and Canada have a free public health care system called Medicare (although this name is unofficial in Canada), meaning that anyone who applies for an Australian or Canadian work visa can benefit from health care systems based on the UK's National Health Service (NHS).
Similarly, both countries have a particularly high PPP Per Capita GDP, with Australia ranking 13th and Canada coming in only 2 places behind in 15th in the world. Although this is not often the primary reason for immigrating to the country for most, it does put a lot of confidence in those planning to move, knowing that the country is one that is relatively wealthy.
The population density is a main selling point for many immigrants, as Canada and Australia both have some of the lowest population density figures of any country in the world. According to statistics gathered by the United Nations World Prospects Report in 2004, out of 239 countries, Canada and Australia rank in at 228th and 233rd respectively.
Your immigration destination is purely your choice and should you decide to move to somewhere that you have holidayed to, then that is completely your own decision. However, it is worthwhile keeping in mind the hundreds of thousands of people who immigrate to popular countries such as Canada and Australia each year, taking advantage of the better quality of living that is so often reported as being vastly greater than that not only in the UK, but anywhere else in the world.
