Uncommon Cruises for Globetrotters

Traveling the world can be one of the most rewarding experiences a person can have

. Embracing other cultures, seeing new places, and trying new things add up to more than just a fun time. They also help to make you grow and evolve as a human being.

Those who explore our planet often pride themselves on their resourcefulness and creativity. They find obscure destinations and spend months planning out how to reach them. This makes for a great and interesting trip, but it can also be exhausting. Sometimes you've done so much planning that by the time your trip comes around, you are almost too tired to enjoy it.

That is the beauty of a cruise vacation. Once you decide where you want to go, everything is planned out for you. You don't have to worry about booking accommodations, picking destinations, and figuring out how to get from place to place, because all of that is wrapped up into one package.

You will be amazed at how many unusual and exciting destinations you can visit on a cruise these days. Here are a few examples of thrilling cruises that will take you to exotic locations all around the world.

Exploring the British Isles and the European Coast

Princess Cruises is currently featuring a 7-day tour of the British Isles and the nearby European coastline on their ship, the Grand Princess. Your journey will start from Southampton in southeastern England.

Arrive in Southampton a few days early to explore the nearby New Forest National Park. It is one of the largest areas of non-enclosed pasturelands, forest, and heathlands in this heavily populated part of the country. There are many opportunities for hiking, bicycling, and wildlife viewing.

From there, it is off to the Spanish city of Vigo and then the Portuguese capital Lisbon. Lisbon is one of the world's oldest cities and has plenty of opportunities for historical and cultural exploration. Take the time to check out the famous Belem Tower, which was built in the early 16th century at the mouth of the Tagus River to defend against intruders.

After seeing Lisbon, you will hit your fourth country on the trip when you dock at La Rochelle in western France. Make sure to check out the Maritime Museum of La Rochelle where you can see Jacques Cousteau's legendary ship, The Calypso, on display.

From Lisbon it is on to Saint Peter Port and then back to Southampton. You will have explored four of Europe's finest countries in just four days and taken in more new experiences then you possibly could have imagined.

Adventuring to Greece, Turkey, and the Black Sea

Your adventure aboard Azamara Club Cruises' ship, the Azamara Quest, will last for seven days and starts in historic Istanbul. Sitting on both sides of the Bosporus River, Istanbul is the only metropolis in the world that actually rests on two separate continents. This has made Istanbul a center for trade, wars, and cultural expansion for thousands of years.

After leaving busy and exciting Istanbul, you will be able to relax for two days at the seaside resort town of Kusadasi. There are many old houses that sit near the seaside and have been converted into lovely cafes and bars. This gives Kusadasi the feeling of a modern-day European town.

Leaving Kusadasi, you will trek to the Turkish port town of Bodrum and then on to the Greek island of Rhodes. This gorgeous island has been inhabited for thousands of years and is home to many ancient ruins. You can check out the Temple of Apollo, the walled medieval city of Rhodes Old Town, The Acropolis of Rhodes and more.

Your final destination is the Greek capital of Athens, again, home to many ancient wonders. This is a great trip for lovers of history, culture, and fine Mediterranean food.

Sailing the South Pacific

This fantastic 7-day journey aboard Royal Caribbean International's Rhapsody of the Seas starts in the bustling Australian capital of Sydney. After two long and relaxing days at sea, you will dock at the city of Noumea, which is the capital of New Caledonia.

Noumea has more days of sunshine per year than any other capital city in the Pacific, which will give you ample opportunities to explore its many beaches. These beaches remain un-crowded with tourists, so in many cases you can explore them with plenty of room to yourself.

From Noumea, it is a short sail to the Isle of Pines. Be ready to get wet, because the lagoon around this tropical paradise is famous around the world for its scuba diving and snorkeling. It is home to many exotic fish and corals.

You will spend another couple days at sea before you arrive back in Sydney, rested, relaxed, and hopefully with a killer tan!

There are plenty of ways to get out there and explore the world. A cruise vacation is just one of them. A well-rounded world traveler knows that they should take advantage of any opportunity for exploration that comes their way. A cruise is a great way to get out there and see the world.
