Testicular cancer is when malignant cancer cells are found in one or both of the testicles
. The testicles are located behind the penis and are encased in a sac called the scrotum.

Testicular cancer is highly curable if caught early enough. This type of cancer is more prevalent in men ages 20 to 39. Every man should know who to do a self testicular exam because it has been documented that most testicular cancers are found by the patient during a self exam.
Testicular cancer and cancer treatment can make a man infertile. If you want to father children, talk with your doctor about storing sperm for such a purpose before you start cancer treatment. Storing your sperm for future use will alleviate the worries of being infertile and allow you to concentrate on getting better with the cancer treatment.
Testicular cancer is prevalent in men aged between 15 and 35 and is more common in white men than Asians and blacks. The exact causes are still unknown, but there are various risk factors that can induce testicular cancer. Underdevelopment of testicles, Klinefelter's syndrome where the man experiences sterility, small testes, breast enlargement and lesser male hormones and those who have had testicular cancer are all prone developing cancer on the other testicle in the 25 years after the attack.

Signs and Symptoms
The first sign is usually a firm, painless, smooth testicular mass which is sometimes accompanied by a feeling of heaviness in the testicles. Other symptoms of testicular cancer include: a feeling of swelling in the scrotum, discomfort or pain in the scrotum, ache in the lower back, pelvis or groin area, collection of fluid in the scrotum, gynecomastia and nipple tenderness. In advanced stages symptoms include: ureteral obstruction, abdominal mass, coughing, shortness of breath, weight loss, fatigue, pallor and lethargy.
Now, starting with what is testicular cancer. Testicles or gonads are an important part of the reproductive system of a male. A testis (together called the testis or the testicles) is going to be made up of 2 organs smaller than golf balls, and covered with their own covering protective sac called scrotum. The scrotum is found hanging beneath the male reproductive organ, the penis.
Some patients have also shown symptoms in the shape of a hydrocele in the scrotum. Other patients noticed that one testicle had swollen up, out of proportion, while the other testicle had shrunk.
Still, just because fewer people die from testicular cancer doesn't mean it should be taken lightly. If you know anything about testicular cancer, you know that it doesn't discriminate. No matter how healthy you think you are, it can still wreak havoc on your body.
