In Antarctica early next month is where this first grader will be seeing his beloved birds in the wild as they waddle on the ice and feed their newly hatched chicks.Not only will he and his parents be embarking on a trip to the Antarctic Peninsula but they will be joined by an internationally known explorer and filmmaker as well.
Children his age are not usually able to travel to a continent like this one. For him, this is nothing but exciting and his friends are even celebrating. Their behavior can be justified by the fact that his classmates are coming too.
They will be joining the trip via internet linkup as physically coming can cost a hefty sum of money. For this trip, the live video coverage will be accessible to students from all over.
Question and answer forums will be available live from the site through the pilot youth program. To heighten the learning experience, teachers at his school are planning grade level activities that will build on the boy's dispatches. Respectively working on the weather, geology, and forces in motion are the first, fourth, and fifth graders.

Scheduled stops include scientific research stations and a few penguin rookeries. The explorer even knows the secret location of a colony of emperor penguins, the largest of the 17 species of penguins living in Antarctica and the ones made famous in March of the Penguins.
