You also will want to consider how you will be traveling once you reach your destination. If it is by vehicle, then you are definitely going to want to have the carrier on hand to protect them and follow the laws of the road.
Oftentimes, you will be able to find some for rent, whether at the airport or your car rental venue; however, you will not know the condition that it is in. The carrier may have been in an accident or may not have been properly disinfected, and could be unsuitable to carry your child in.
An unsafe car seat that is not functioning properly is just as dangerous as not using one at all. Overall, it is probably better to be safe than sorry and just take the carrier that is familiar with you.
If you do not choose to purchase a baby seat, understand that you will have to hold or carry your infant the duration of the trip. Children under the age of two can be held on a mother's lap, instead of buckled in a seat.
However, if you hit turbulence or rough patches, there is a higher likelihood that they could be mishandled or injured by accident. Make sure that you understand the ramifications of carrying a small child in this manner when you are flying on a plane.
One thing that is a definite must when you are traveling is a stroller; with all of the lugging of bags and walking that you will have to do once you reach the airport, you will not want to have to carry your baby also. If you are vacationing with a toddler, they could grow tired of walking.
Having a stroller on hand will be the best travel choice you made. You may even be able to place other items underneath in the storage compartment and allow yourself less items to carry around with you.
Many strollers even have a detachable bassinet as part of the holding area, so you could get two useful items in one. Ask airport personnel ahead of time how you will be able to store the item and whether or not you will be required to check it.
If you are worried about your baby being noisy or fussy throughout the trip, you will definitely want to have enough food on hand to keep them occupied; many individuals choose to give their youngsters a prescription sleep aide to help them get through long travels.
