Trampoline Parts - Keeping Kids Safe

There is very little about a trampoline that does not make a child smile

. The bounce, the hours of play and the chance to practice flips, landing on your back and other gymnastic maneuvers appeal to all children.

For parents, it can be a different story. Emergency rooms all have stories of parents arriving with children who have been injured on a trampoline. Rarely was it an intentional injury, but most likely caused by a fall or a misstep while getting onto or coming off of a trampoline. Fortunately, trampoline manufacturers have created a few trampoline parts designed to reduce injury.

A trampoline enclosure is one such part. Designed to go around the entire trampoline and reaching a height of about four feet, the trampoline enclosure reduces the risk of a child bouncing off of the trampoline and onto the ground. Entrance is via a velcro door, and is easily opened and sealed by small hands.

What is a trampoline without a bounce? A mat. All trampoline mats are held in place with springs that attach to the frame of the trampoline. These springs are spaced out at intervals around the trampoline. Large gaps, large enough for an arm, leg or small child to slip through, are a part of the trampoline. Fortunately, trampoline pads cover not only the springs but also the gaps between the mat and the frame of the trampoline. Trampoline pads may also significantly reduce the chance of injury as well as provide a more stable platform when entering or exiting the trampoline.

All trampolines have a specific diameter, the consumer will need to know this information before purchasing or placing an order for these trampoline parts. A simple measurement will determine your size of trampoline and parts are sold according to the size of your trampoline. If you are not already a trampoline owner, consider purchasing these parts for your new trampoline at the time you make your initial purchase. Your children will be safer, you will have a more sound state of mind and with any hope, fewer trips to the Emergency Room because of trampoline related injuries.
