Touring The Sunset Neighborhood Of San Francisco

Touring The Sunset Neighborhood Of San Francisco

San Francisco is a city with a countless amount of things to do

. There are museums, parks, and monuments that are visited by millions of people throughout the year.

However, a very large draw of the city is its diversity. Each area, or neighborhood, offers different types of entertainment and attractions.

One area that has a lot to do and see is the Sunset/Golden Gate Park region. Though it is the most residential of all of the neighborhoods and is home to the suburban area "The Avenues," it is still a perfect place for visitors to the Bay Area to see.

A large and impressive site to visit is, of course, Golden Gate Park. It is the largest man made park in the world.Touring The Sunset Neighborhood Of San Francisco

It is one of the most beautiful areas in the city. Included in this region is the Conservatory of Flowers.

The conservatory is home to a multitude of galleries and exhibitions of different plant life. It is, essentially, an immense greenhouse.

The plants have been collected from all over the world, and there are thousands of species of flowers to be found there. Some of the galleries included there feature aquatic, highland tropic, lowland tropic, and potted plants.

The entire conservatory is full of intoxicating smells and gorgeous exhibits. Most of the plants call the rainforest home, so it is an amazing sight to see them on the west coast of the United States.

Another portion of the park is the California Academy of Sciences. It is almost like a mixture of an aquarium, planetarium, and a natural history museum.

The exhibits are educational, beautiful, and impressive, and some of the country's most interesting research is performed there. In the Steinhart Aquarium within the facility, you will have the pleasure of seeing over thirty-eight thousand live animals.

There is an amazing array of penguins, sharks, piranhas, sting rays, and coral reefs. Anyone that is interested in the deep blue sea or that has children who love animals cannot miss a trip to this section of the Academy of Sciences.

The Morris Planetarium is the largest all-digital ones of its kind. There is a number of different programs and shows available, but catching any of them will be a treat.

The high tech screen makes you feel like you have really launched into space. Here you are able to learn about the solar system, stars, and planets.

The California Academy of Sciences is also home to a four-story, life sized rainforest exhibit. Within the dome are bats, frogs, chameleons, plants, flowers, and a multitude of other living things that one would find in these types of regions.

It even has an underwater tunnel that allows you to see what the rivers of the Amazon contain. This site is a great place to see on a family vacation, and it is housed right in the midst of the beautiful Golden Gate Park.

One more attraction located in the park is the de Young Museum, which showcases art produced by Americans from the seventeenth through the twenty-first centuries. International textiles and costumes are also shown here.

Those that wish to see even more creatures should take a trip to the San Francisco Zoo, which is located in Sunset. Within the park is a number of different attractions, including the African Savannah, Grizzly Gulch, the Lemur Forest, Penguin Island, and the Gorilla Preserve.

Hundreds of species of exotic animals call the San Francisco Zoo home. It is the perfect attraction for those that love to learn and want to get a glimpse into other environments.Touring The Sunset Neighborhood Of San Francisco

Not only is it a great way to view thousands of animals, it is also well kept and beautiful to look at. Many of the creatures housed here are endangered; the park is trying to breed them and make it possible for many to enjoy them for years to come.

If you are not satisfied just looking at the animals, there are also films and shows available to teach you about the different species that live there. They emphasize wildlife conservation and how humans can help to keep all of the endangered creatures around for the future.

The Sunset region is a great place to spend a day or two of your vacation to San Francisco. Make your way there the next time you find yourself in the beautiful Bay Area of California.
