Also, he or she should have a fairly high success rate. You don't want to be in the hands of someone that experiences frequent complications.
How Long Will It Take For Me to Recover?
You doctor should be able to provide detailed information about recovery, such as what activities will be acceptable at specific points in time after the surgery. You don't want to harm yourself or increase the chances for serious complications, so having this sort of information up front will help you better prepared for post-op.
What results can I expect?
You don't want a specific answer. No two people are exactly the same and so the results will vary. However, your doctor should be able to give you a good idea of the results he or she is aiming to achieve, as well as potential risks, complications, and side effects that could play against an ideal outcome.
Have you ever been disciplined by the board or by the state?
You want to know if your doctor has had any prior offenses, how, and why the situation occurred. Sometimes the explanation will be understandable, but in most cases you might want to shy away from those who have had disciplinarian action taken against them. Use your best judgment.

This topic should absolutely come up in your discussion, because while a pre-exam will likely be performed, your doctor's remarks may trigger information that you wouldn't have thought to share otherwise.

Ask this question, especially if you are sensitive to certain pain medications, or if you have allergies. This is a good time to discuss alternatives that will make the healing process easier and more comfortable.
