In recent times Bangalore has seen considerable growth in terms of its fast moving IT industry which has caught the attention of the city's youth and is on the verge of spreading its wings. However when it comes to busy avenues and crowded shopping streets, Bangalore is no different from most other major cities in the country. Many cultural attractions await the visitor to this amazing city along with a number of temples and palaces.

Born on the 20th of November 1750, Tipu Sultan became the ruler of Mysore in 1782. He ruled this kingdom for 17 years and was often referred to as the Tiger of Mysore as his symbol of choice was that of a Bengal tiger. This Islamic ruler died at the age of 48 and was often questioned of his right to rule the Kingdom of Mysore at it was dominated by locals who strongly believed in the teachings of Hinduism. A lover of the arts, Tipu Sultan was an accomplished soldier, poet and scholar who at the request of the French ordered the construction of the first church to be built in the kingdom despite his devotion to Islam.

Tipu's Summer Palace which is located in Bangalore is one of the most frequented tourist attractions of the city. Constructed in 1790, this beautiful palace was the official summer residence of the Tiger of Mysore. The building consists of two stories and the use of the finest wood can be discerned by the attentive visitor. The intricately designed archways and the attractive balconies boasting sprawling views of the surroundings are but a fraction of what you will have the chance to marvel at while exploring the palace. Although the construction project of the palace commenced by his father, Haider Ali it was completed by Tipu Sultan.
