Country singing heartthrob Tim McGraw is certainly keeping his fans entertained this year with a string of tour dates alongside Lady Antebellem as well as an upcoming appearance at the CMT Awards. "McGraw," as the San Diego Union-Tribune put it, "charts his own course while staying true to country music's roots."
For fans, McGraw is not only an extremely talented singer; he's also a pretty likeable guy. The Louisiana native (who is currently a resident of Nashville) has always lent a hand during times of crisis, most notably during Hurricane Katrina. Recently, he's been spearheading efforts to aid victims of the Nashville floods. The upcoming Nashville Rising: A Benefit Concert for Flood Recovery is set to be held on June 22 at the Bridgestone Arena. Other stars on the guest list include Miley Cyrus, Lynyrd Skynrd, Carrie Underwood and Brooks & Dunn. In a recent joint press statement McGraw and his wife Faith Hill said, "The damage that we've seen to people's homes and the effect that the flooding has had on their lives is unimaginable. But we've seen the spirit of our community firsthand, as volunteers, church groups and our local business leaders rally to help."
Tim McGraw's self-titled debut album arrived on the scene in 1993, on the label Curb Records. In its first moments the record flopped, completely missing the charts and leaving many wondering perhaps if McGraw had hit a wall. The handsome cowboy hat-wearing musician had other things in store, however. His sophomore effort, Not a Moment Too Soon, blew away any doubts of McGraw's talent. The album ultimately spawned a series of hits that would help further his career, including "Indian Outlaw," "Don't Take the Girl," "Down on the Farm" and "Refried Dreams." To top it all off, Not a Moment Too Soon became the best-selling country album of the year, significantly raising expectations for McGraw's next offering. He did not disappoint.
1995's All I Want seemed to solidify McGraw's standing in the industry. He was no longer a struggling artist trying to be heard but rather an accomplished musician delivering more hits on the Billboard charts. The question was quickly becoming: Which of McGraw's albums were not going to make it onto the charts? The answer, as we would come to find out, would be none.
