There Is No Substitute For A Packing Checklist When Travelling

There Is No Substitute For A Packing Checklist When Travelling

There are many people among us who are experts at travelling

. They do it often and know just what and how to pack so that they have exactly what they need without carrying a lot of stuff that they don't need. The rest of us need a bit of help in the travel department. We're the ones who arrive at our destination having forgotten our underwear or the report needed for the business presentation. Maybe we're the ones who carry a suitcase full of shoes when one or two pairs would have been plenty.

Planning an itinerary for a trip and making all the reservations necessary can be a breeze next to planning what to take along. It is as much of a science as it is an art. Though some travel for business or pleasure often enough to be able to carry that list in their heads, they are the rarity. There is no replacement for making a packing checklist, beginning it well ahead of time, and writing down every single needed item no matter how small or seemingly obvious. It is often the obvious items that get missed, requiring buying replacements for them at the destination.

To help make the travel packing list, plan your wardrobe for each day and evening and be sure to include needed accessories. If you will be staying at a hotel with a pool, remember to pack your swimsuit and cover-up. If you are going on a pleasure trip where you will be buying souvenirs for family or friends, make a list and plan a way to bring the items home which may be leaving enough room in your suitcase to accommodate them.

Make a separate list for the items you will want in your carry-on bag. It's usually a good idea to take essential toiletries that are allowable as well as a change of clothes just in case your luggage does not arrive with you at your destination. If you are traveling by car, you will probably want to bring a cooler with snacks and drinks. If you are traveling with children, be sure to include games or other entertainment to keep them from getting bored. There Is No Substitute For A Packing Checklist When Travelling

With the new charges that the airlines are now placing on luggage, it can be costly to carry more than you absolutely need. American Airlines, Delta, and Continental now charge $25 for the first checked-in bag and $35 for the second bag on domestic flights. Bags that are over their weight limits are charged a considerable fee. Check on their requirements and plan your packing checklist well to avoid spending more than necessary to take everything you really have to take.
