Australians love nothing better than a vacation playground by the sea and Australians in the know have kept Yamba to themselves for years because it is perfect just as it is. Families, surfers, fishermen and other ocean and beach lovers head straight for this New South Wales community on the mid-north coast whenever they get the chance. It took a prestigious glossy magazine and Stanford University to reveal Yamba's secret. The magazine called it the best tourist town in all of Australia and Stanford researchers heralded it as having the world's best climate.
That Yamba would win out over a Queensland tropical destination might surprise you. When you think about it, though, there is such a thing as too tropical. Can you really call a climate that is so humid you need air conditioning all day long and have to worry about floods and cyclones perfect? Wouldn't you rather go someplace where you felt perfectly comfortable in a tee shirt and shorts throughout the year and where the rains seemed to come on schedule whenever the lush surrounding countryside needed watering? For all of its old fashioned "down home" hospitality, Yamba still offers all the style, sophistication and upmarket amenities you want. Yamba has a thriving arts community and their are galleries and gift shops that feature wonderful arts and crafts. If you want to enjoy an exquisitely presented lunch at a sidewalk cafe, you can do it easily in Yamba. If you want to enjoy live music at night, you can find it there. It's all there for you in Yamba, but the relaxed pace of the town means that you will enjoy it all even more.
The same is true of a Yamba accommodation. You can stay at a fully equipped tent and caravan park right on the beach or you can stay at a luxurious resort.
