Another reason why so many teenagers are overweight is because of the amount of sugar and artificial sweeteners companies are using in their products. Most of the food you will find in today's supermarkets are processed products that have had sugar chemicals and artificial sweeteners added to them to help improve their taste. The high levels of sugar makes the insulin levels in the body change and this can promote weight gain.

Finally, the decline in teenagers exercising is another key reason why today's teenage society is more unfit and unhealthy than ever. The invention of consoles and video games has meant that more teenagers are staying in sitting on the sofa rather than running around outside. The only positive turn around in recent times is the invention of such things as dance games or the Nintendo wii that help to encourage teenagers to exercise and improve their levels of fitness.
