The different areas of London

As the UK's biggest city, London is a fantastic place to live and work with a huge range of jobs, attractions and cultures.

Many people, however, are put off by the complexity of London and while its many areas offer different opportunities they also bring up variances in price and travel routes. For those happy to commute, areas just outside the city can make living expenses cheaper but journey times will increase and chances brought up by city life will be passed up.

Young people seeking employment in London choose to live in the city itself to get the most from its lively atmosphere and many opt to live close to their workplace. However, because of the great public transport system in place it's not necessary to let your job dictate where you reside. The different areas of London

London is split in half by the Thames with North London seen as the more upmarket side. Most corporate businesses are found in this half so in places it has the feel of industry and offers more tube stations. Well known areas in North London including Archway and Highway, which have 'small town' atmospheres while inescapably being part of something bigger.

To the west are areas such as Camden, Notting Hill and Wembley which are tourist hotspots for their busy markets, classy restaurants and, of course, the national team's football stadium which not only houses some of the top games in the country but also a variety of pop concerts.

South of the river has a lot more green space as a result of it formerly being a rural area outside the city walls. Some of the best parks are those found at Battersea, Clapham and Richmond.

As well as Battersea Park, the area is home to a famous dog and cat home as well as the power station that David Cameron and Margaret Thatcher have made famous speeches about. Battersea estate agents are always in high demand, with the area around the park one of the most popular locations.

To the south west you find places such as Earl's Court, Fulham and Putney. The social scene in this area is one of the liveliest in the city with Earl's Court Exhibition Centre a centre for gigs and concerts. The annual Oxford Cambridge boat race starts from Putney Bridge every year and draws a large from all over.

As you can see there's plenty of diversity in London and no matter where you choose to live you're bound to find something of interest to you.
