. There is a massive movement in the United States right now to connect people with jobs. However, the United States is not producing jobs at the rate that people need them.
Coincidently, we know intuitively that renewable energy is going to be the best next substitute for fossil fuels. We also know that fossil fuels are running out an alarming rate. As burgeoning Eastern economies try to westernize, they are doing with fossil fuels. China is building massive coal generation plants to fund the factories that make products to go and our Walmarts. That is not going to change anytime soon.
Enter wind turbines on the world stage. They can be thought of as a tremendous part of the solution. Wind energy is free and moving around us all the time. However we don't tend to think of every often, because wind is not visible. It has been estimated though, that the entire electricity needs of United States could be met by wind energy.
We just have to roll out wind power generation order to make that a reality. One of the problems is though, that there aren't enough technicians trained in this area to be able work on the wind turbines that are out there now. Much less, the ones that would come with the rapid ramp-up in wind energy devices. It is been stated that 100,000 jobs could be created through the wind industry alone. The wind turbine job is at the technician level however, but their extremely well-paid.
Many wind turbine technicians make over $80,000 a year. One reason for that high pay premium is the work is done so high up in the air. Many wind turbines are at least 100 feet up, so considerable risk is taken by those that work on them.
However, if you are mechanically inclined, this could be an ideal way to marry your technical skill with a true need in the marketplace right now. Most technical jobs have some element of risk, whether it's working with machinery that is driven by a motor, or working high up in the air on a wind turbine. Both carry risks - only the type of risk is different.
The wind turbine job is the ideal solution now for both the US economy and the wind industry. We just need to mobilize as a society and help direct people to these jobs by making the exercise of getting the training a lot simpler. Federal funding could help people transition from areas like automobile manufacturing were also technical level of expertise is required to wind turbine repair jobs that pay a lot more and are in tremendous need right now.
