The Truth about Your Teeth and Brushing

Taking care of your teeth does not just happen with one visit to the dentist

. The maintenance is essential because once tartar builds up, bacteria would come haunting the enamel, would bore a hole and would even cause the teeth to weaken and succumb to discoloration. The enamel is the hard covering that protects the innermost portions of the tooth. Once, ruined, it would be difficult to bring back the natural look of the teeth. Unless you opt for cosmetic dentistry, teeth discoloration can be dealt with by any best whitening regimen at home. There are many ways to take care of our teeth. Inside our homes, there lay the very foundation of oral cleanliness called toothbrush. Brushing is the primary armor against the deterioration of our teeth luster and strength. Dentists recommended that brushing should be done at least twice a day in order to keep the teeths natural characteristic and retain them as long as they were intended. Toothpastes are considered the most common teeth whitening product ubiquitously found in any corner you turn your head to. It contains fluoride which is a substance proven to be giving the teeth its pearly white glow. The use of toothpaste and other home natural extracts that whiten teeth has been a way of life of anyone worldwide. But brushing should not just be done with any stroke of the hand. It should be scientifically maneuvered in order to clean the intricate sides and corners of the teeth. First, you have to be aware that the tooth has five very distinct sides. Usually, a toothbrush could only clean three of those five sides. The other two sides which the brush could not reach become the reproduction site of bacteria-causing teeth problems, gum disease and foul odor. This explains why people need to follow up brushing with flossing. Brushing is not enough when we talk about cleaning our oral cavities. The floss was designed to reach the in between areas of the teeth to scrape stuck food particles away. If these food particles remain in between, they would eventually cause cavities, bad breath, tooth decay, and teeth discoloration. Brushing our teeth and flossing them afterwards can help in preventing its deterioration and weakening. It could also help in boosting our self-confidence. You have to realize, however, that it is not actually the toothpaste that cleans the teeth. Toothpastes whiten teeth because of its fluoride content. It is the brushing stroke that really cleans the enamel. The mechanical action of the bristles removes plaque on the tooth surface. This means that cleaning can be done with a toothbrush and a glass of water alone. Toothpastes are used to maintain the teeths luster and good breath. It is not everyday that you will feel the drive to clean your teeth especially that sometimes you get too tired of work and you end up in bed without even getting into your regular hygienic regimen at home. This is not advisable especially when you do it as a habit. The impact would be detrimental to your entire health.
