Mumbai the capital of Maharashtra is the largest city in India earlier it was referred as Bombay

. In the beginning Mumbai was the conglomeration of 7 islands which were on the Konkani coastline. Later these islands were joined to form the island city named Mumbai. This metropolitan city has the population of 17 million people. Mumbai is known as the economical capital of the country. It is also home to the Hollywood industry of India. The city attracts the people from all around for various reasons.

South Mumbai Malabar Hill, Fort, Colaba, Nariman Point, Tardeo and Marine Lines.

South Mumbai has most of the real estate and is thus considered to be quiet expensive. This is the main area visited by the tourist and has the well known Museum, art galleries, good restaurants, bars and the historic Gateway of India.

This is the industrial hub of Mumbai, but gradually there was a decline into the industries of this area. The only Zoo of the city is situated here there are also some well known temples over here.

North Central Mumbai Matunga, Dharavi, Sion,Vadala, and Mahim.

This area of the upper middle people developed immediately after India gained independence. The largest slum of Asia is also located in this vicinity of North Central Mumbai.

Western Suburbs Khar, Bandra,Santa Cruz, Vile Parle, Juhu and Andheri.

The Western Suburb is inhabited by the people who want lavish and peaceful ambiance. There are also some beaches and well known churches over here. Christian community can be found here in large scale. The citys airports are also positioned in this area.

Central Suburbs Vidyavihar, Kurla,Ghatkopar, Kanjur Marg, Vikhroli,Bhandup, Powai and Mulund.

This place is thronged by the middle class families. Ghatkopar and Mulund are home to the most of the upper middle and middle class people. Most of the Gujarati communities are residing over here.

Harbour Suburbs Mankhurd, Chembur, Trombay and Govandi.

This area was initially used as the centre of atomic Research. Later it was developed as satellite town of Mumbai known as Navi Mumbai.

Northwest Mumbai Jogeshwari, Manori,

One can find here the cleanest beaches which allure the people in large number. The well known Sanjay Gandhi National Park is also situated over here. Mandapeshwar rock-cut which is of 1st century B.C, is also located in this area of North-West Mumbai
