The Trademark Of The World Cup 2010

What is the trademark of World Cup 2010? The great teams

, the players, the expectation of the final? No, it's the vuvuzelas! The national music instrument of South Africa is responsible for that noise you hear every time you are watching a game from the World Cup. Indeed, this noise is like having millions of bees flying over the soccer field. You cannot even hear the sportscaster sometimes, because the sound of vuvuzelas is way too high during some matches!

Vuvuzelas are everywhere; in the soccer field during the matches, in the market, the streets... even if you walk down a quiet street you are most likely to be surprised and interrupted by the loud parps of the vuvuzelas. What is interesting is that fans from other countries have also adopted the vuvuzela, making it the absolute trademark of World cup 2010.

Vuvuzelas are the public's weapon of choice; although they can truly disrupt any game and have you put your hands over your ears even if watching from the TV, people are supposed to have their way and have fun while watching. People of South Africa and the crowds who are visiting the country to watch the games are the heart of the World Cup, so no one has the right to ban vuvuzelas.

The popularity of vuvuzelas has been inflated in a rather artificial way, but it's the least commercial item of the World Cup. During the games people are not allowed to eat and drink anything they want, unless the brand is one of the sponsors of the games. Everything is closely regulated and advertising screams from every corner; therefore it comes as no surprise that people have chosen their own trademark of the World Cup 2010, which is loud and funny at the same time.

The good thing about vuvuzelas is that they became trendy and popular to all other countries within a night. People who have never heard about them started googling vuvuzelas and reading about them and their use. You cannot tell people from different nationalities what to buy and when, but it did happen. The use of vuvuzelas is probably mindless, but many chants and cries during the matches are totally mindless anyway.

The only negative about the use of vuvuzelas and their establishment as the trademark of World Cup 2010 is that they are way too noisy when thousands of spectators play them at the same time. They main argument against them is that they distract the players, making it almost impossible to talk during the game. But both players and coaches have to live with them and deal with them effectively. Probably the new trend will fade out at some point during the years to come. It's way too early for that, but anyway FIFA has a lot more things to consider than the vuvuzelas.

The trademark of World Cup 2010 is an innovation of the fans and not the officials, and this is what makes it so interesting and intriguing this year.
