The Physical Shopping Mall Versus Going Online
This is becoming an increasingly hot issue, since a lot of people are more and more
frequently skipping the weekly visit to the shopping mall, instead opting for the comfortable and fast way of just browsing through the corridors of an online mall.But what are the pro's and con's?
Going To The Movies
Sure this is a social thing, it is an activity that you want to do together with a group of your best friends. On the other hand, some movies you really wish to see by yourself, to just cuddle up in your couch and not being disturbed by someone coughing or constantly putting down his hand in a bag of potato chips, making you miss some vital information in the intricate dialogue.
So yes, a blockbuster action movie starring Bruce Willis or Stallone, that is a group event. That is pure entertainment and afterwards you and your friends can just stroll down to the nearest hamburger joint sharing some laughs and reenacting your favorite parts of the movie you just have seen.
But if it is a French movie, something intellectual where they all sit around a dining room table discussing every topic between heaven and earth, then you might want to enjoy that just by your lonesome. You would want to savor all the tiny little details, the looks that two people interchange may not be as enjoyable if you are out with all of your best friends.
Eating
Well yes, if you are looking to eat out and at fair prices, the physical mall is hard to beat. And eating out in your own home is of course not possible, the closest you can come to it is ordering in. But, on the other hand, that can be just as relaxing as eating out, at least if you eat something directly out of the box with chopsticks so you save in on the dishes.
But there is something that is hard to beat about eating out, the environment, studying the other guests frequenting the establishment, getting waited on hand and foot. When it works. If you are unlucky, it can be a stressful event, where the restaurant is fully booked and they have messed up your reservation, making you wait a long time for your table and once you are seated, the service is not what could and should be expected.
You order your meat medium rare but when they serve it, it is as rubbery as the sole of your sneakers, and they act snotty and rude when you do not leave the tip they sort of think they do not have to make themselves worthy of.
Window Shopping
It actually works just as good online as it does at the mall. Maybe even better, since online you can stare at the same items in the same window for as long as you like, without making the boutique personnel uncomfortable.
In conclusion, I guess we need the shopping mall in both versions.
