The New Luxury Of Powerboat Racing

The New Luxury Of Powerboat Racing

Powerboat racing is quickly becoming one of the most exciting

, most popular and most luxurious water sports these days. It is the racing of large, specially designed powerboats and typically is point to point racing. It is an elite and expensive sport, mainly because of the extreme expense of the boats and the fuel that is required to participate in it.

There are many different classes and types of boats that compete regularly in races on the same water court and at the same time. Offshore powerboat racing has widely been known always as a luxury sport. These days, however, there are more and more people with pleasure boats that compete in formed classes, with some safety modifications that have been instilled. Some of the types of boats with the modifications might include single or twin piston engine V bottom boats, single or twin piston engine catamaran boats, turbine boats and four piston engine boats. Depending on the class, the speeds that these quick vessels can race at range anywhere from 65 miles per hour (105 km/h) to 190 miles p er hour (310 km/h).

In the United States, offshore powerboat racing includes the OPA Races, the OSS Races and the SBI/APBA/UIM Races. In Europe, the Middle East and Asia, the sport had in the past been regulated by the UIM regulated Class 1, but the category is no longer recognized. It reorganized and is now regulated by WPPA, which now allows all kinds of bigger varieties of props, accessories and engines.

If you have ever watched this sport, you may have noticed that there are team sponsors. However, even though there are those sponsors, powerboat racing is still an amateur sport and is financed by those commercial sponsors and by private funding. Although there are still many old fashioned, classic endurance offshore racing classes, there are now more and more circuit style races that are becoming popular. The sport is moving towards this circuit style, also known as run what you brung, which seems to attract the attention of more people watching television and also captures spectator attention more than the classic endurance racing seems to.

If you are searching for something classy, fun, exciting and popular to do this weekend, you might want to look on the Internet and find out when and where there is scheduled to be one of these popular powerboat racing events near you for an experience you will not soon forget.
