Now that summer has arrived, teenagers need to start thinking about what to do with their time
. Are they going to bypass gainful employment, or are they interested in finding a part time or a full time position? Anyone who has the ability to find employment in such a difficult economy would be foolish not to do so. The extra money and experience you get will help contribute to your future even if it is not that evident right away.
It is important for teens to be employed and find out what it is like to have the responsibility of a job. This is especially true for 16 year olds because that is the age when most employers will hire them for the first time and they start to really need money at that age anyway. A summer job will help a teen stay out of trouble and be productive at the same time.
Of course they would probably prefer to sleep in til nearly noon, play video games or text their buddies instead of getting up early to go to work. But all of those things and hanging out with their friends will eventually get boring, summer is about 3 months, and not all of those days will be exciting. Even a part time job will help your teen boy into a man and your teen girl into a woman.
When a teen goes out into the job force, there are lots of new things they will learn. Not only will they learn how to be better employees but they will also learn how to be better bosses as well. Working will stimulate the entrepreneurial sprit in some and they will then have a chance to wonder what it would be like to someday own their own business. Learning how to deal with fellow employees and customers will help them learn how to start a successful business when they get older.
It is for these reasons that all older teenagers should try to get summer work. Not only will it benefit them now but it will contribute valuable lessons to their development later on. All their parents will be appreciative as well!
