The History Of Thailand's Most Legendary Nightclub

, The Shark Club In Patong Beach, Phuket

During the 1990s The Shark Club dominated the nightlife scene in Patong Beach. Back in those days there were only two real nightclubs in Patong, The Shark Club and Banana Disco. The Shark Club was far more popular than Banana Disco, with a far better atmosphere and more of a party crowd. The Shark Club was filled with hundreds, if not thousands of people on any given night (mostly beautiful young women). This is what made the Shark Club popular with single male tourists travelling to Phuket.

The Shark Club was owned and managed by Canadian expat Kevin Radke, who was well known in Patong Beach. Kevin had captured something special in The Shark Club, the right mix of people from all walks of life combined for an exciting atmosphere that was unrivaled by any other club in Phuket. The Shark Club was in a league of it's own when it came to the entertainment business in Thailand.

The club was closed in 2002, in a bizarre set of circumstances that created a whirlwind of rumors. The details of the closure are still not clear, but it is likely to be discussed in great detail in the upcoming book about The Shark Club, written by a former employee of the club. The book is scheduled to be released in 2012, and is expected to cause quite a stir in Phuket. The History Of Thailand's Most Legendary Nightclub, The Shark Club In Patong Beach, Phuket

After several failed attempts to re open The Shark Club under new ownership, and even with a different name, finally the building was converted into a Thai boxing stadium in 2004. Nightlife in Patong Beach has suffered greatly since the closing of The Shark Club, many people simply stopped coming to Phuket over the years.

The staff and all those associated with The Shark Club have nothing but positive things to say about the owner Mr Radke. Kevin is still loved and missed by his staff and his friends in Phuket. All those that remember Kevin will be happy to hear that he is alive and well, and opening a new club in Brazil in 2011.

Since the closing of The Shark Club in 2002, the nightclub scene in Patong has never seen another club enjoy the success that was once captured by Kevin Radke with The Shark Club. The news that Kevin will be opening a new club in 2011, will be a huge story in Patong and Phuket. Those people with fond memories of the good old days when they partied the night away in The Shark Club will be happy to hear that a new Shark Club will be opening under the same style, the same magic that made the original Shark Club such an international success
