4. Take OTC pain medication - These could include anti-inflammatory medications like aspirin or ibuprofen. Give according to the label directions, but avoid giving kids and teen's aspirin, which very rarely cause a potentially fatal syndrome called Reye's.

5. Take care not to pop or break the blisters - Breaking them will do two things. First, you will lengthen the healing process, and secondly, you increase the chance for infection.

6. Be gentle to peeling skin - If your sunburn is severe, in a few days, the top layer of skin will begin to peel, continue with the aloe or moisturizing cream during the peeling process.

7. Avoid using strong soaps - Strong soaps can irritate already tender damaged skin.

Remember, the earlier you start the treatment for sunburn, the more comfortable you will be during the seven days it will normally take to heal.
