They are water resistant, not rated as 'waterproof', so submerging the equipment is not recommended. The rechargeable battery should work for about four hours. It can be charged with the included USB cable and your computer, or you can purchase optional chargers. The built-in microphone is configurable, but is reported to start having some wind distortion above 30 mph. There is a 2 GB memory card included and you can upgrade to a 16 GB card. Each GB should record about 30 minutes in HD, and twice that in fast action SD mode.
These are the lightest camcorders at only 4 ounces. They are four inches long, sit two inches high and are one and one-half inches wide. This makes them highly adaptable to several mounting options with their patent-pending "Trail Mounts 'slide and lock' system." Since it is small enough to fit in the palm of your hand, it will not impair your activity in the least bit.
The ContourHD is able to be mounted comfortably on goggles, helmets, handlebars, windshields or most tripods. With the included goggle strap attachment and the flat disk for helmets, along with the piece that slides into either side of the camera, you are ready for most outdoor activities.
