It may sound obvious, but there are a few items that you can't leave home without, never mind leave behind on holiday. But a beach holiday can present a number of problems for holidaymakers, and if you're unsure of what to bring you can run the risk of packing too much, or worse not packing enough, so here are a few tips for what to take with you on your beach holiday.
Towels
You can't go on a beach holiday without having some towels to hand, such as lightweight sports towels that will soak up a lot of water without getting too heavy. Towels can be very heavy to carry, however, so try to find out before you leave if you're hotel or resort provides towels that you can take down to the beach, as that way you'll save on space and possibly money, as a heavy suitcase will incur the luggage surcharges.
Sunscreen
Just because a friend/relative got a really good tan from lying out in the sun with no sun protection on doesn't mean that you will, as everyone's skin is different, and you run the risk of being severely burned, or worse, you could get sunstroke, which will ruin your holiday. So don't be silly, pack factor 30 or higher, and make sure that you reapply it often, especially after going in the water.
Activities
Lying on a beach for days on end can be great fun, especially if you're on holiday in Bahia Principe Cayo Levantado in the Dominican Republic, but make sure that you have a few things to keep you occupied, and stop you falling asleep in the sun for too long, such as books, a volleyball, buckets and spades, which will probably be very easy to get hold of over there.
