This fabulous event takes place every year in October, Breast Cancer Awarness Month. For Sponsorship or donations information please contact The Spa at Roop's Mill www.thespaatroopsmill.com 410-871-0023The purpose of this fund is to perpetuate the character, ideals and goals of Stacey Davis by providing financial resources to breast cancer patients in Carroll County who are in need of assistance. Such support may include but is not limited to, grants for uncovered medical expenses, supplies, prostheses and travel related expenses for the patient, family or unrelated caregiver to and from treatment centers. Funds may also be expended for projects that will give comfort, support or improve the quality of life for women living with breast cancer. The Stacey Davis Breast Cancer Fund was established in 2005 in memory of Stacey Lynn Woods Davis, a dedicated, loving, and committed mother, wife, and friend. Stacey was diagnosed with breast cancer in December 2000 and immediately had radical bi-lateral mastectomies. Once she recovered from the surgery she began chemotherapy which was followed by radiation therapy. Stacey suffered a serious relapse when cancer cells were found in her spinal fluid. She endured months of additional chemotherapy and radiation before passing away on October 11, 2002 the day of her 15th wedding anniversary. She was 38 years old. Stacey was an active member of Northwest Baptist Church in Reisterstown, where her stepfather, Jerry, was a Deacon and her mother was the organist. She was raised and attended school in Westminster, where she ran track and set several school and county records one of which is still standing today. She was crowned Westminster High School Homecoming Queen in 1981. Stacey loved the Baltimore Orioles, especially Tippy Martinez and Cal Ripken, even memorizing their statistics. Once, when a young Cal Ripken visited Westminster High School for a charity basketball game, Stacey sat on his lap and asked the "Iron Man" to marry her. While attending Towson State University, Stacey worked at College Manor, attending to her beloved elderly residents. Always the life-of-the-party, Stacey was remembered long after leaving College Manor for dressing-up in an Orioles uniform, waiving pom-poms and leading cheers while she and the residents watched Orioles games on TV. She left college to attend beauty school in Westminster and begin her career in hair styling as a cosmetologist for Shear Designs. Stacey married Aaron Davis in 1987 and became a mother to three boys, Stephen, Michael, and Christian. She was a stay-at-home mother until her death in 2002. Always athletic, Stacey coached her two oldest sons in track and field during chemotherapy treatment. Stacey was the Mom that all her friends aspired to be. Stacey was known for throwing wonderful parties including her Annual Easter Egg Hunt which attracted over 50 children each year and always included a poignant Easter message. She was also known for her Annual Christmas Caroling parties throughout her home community of Willow Pond. Stacey was first and foremost a dedicated mother. Her passions included her church activities, teaching youth Sunday school and acting as a group leader for bible study. Stacey was an inspiration to all of us primarily because of her undying spirit and selfless focus on those around her, even in her darkest days.
