Teach Your Child the Value of Recycling with Kid's Arts & Craft

Are you tired of keeping up with the joneses when it comes to catering to your child's toy whims and fancies? Are you fed up with competing over loud plastic monstrosities stamped with trade mark TV Characters that seem to sap your child's imagination and creativity? If you are then you need to go back to some old fashioned activities that you did in the days before monster warehouse stores filled with shelves of toys that all need batteries and break after being banged twice.

To develop your child's imagination you need to be imaginative as parents. Make a dress up box filled with all the fashion disasters that you bought and now dare not be seen in public with. Throw in some junk jewelry that you wanted to trash and a hat or two that belonged to your granddad and watch your child while away hours playing house.

I have also put together some easy kid's arts & craft ideas that are not expensive and will pique your child's curiosity while teaching him the value of recycling.

A great way to use up all the junk mail that has been lying around is to make a paper Mache project out of them. The flour glue paste is just icky enough to be fun for the kids and the act of tearing all the junk mail can be extremely cathartic for you. This craft idea also has endless possibilities as you can make bowls to hold all sorts or models of favorite fictional characters, boxes and coasters and then paint and lacquer them into lovely presents and keepsakes.

Another great recycled craft idea is a used CD curtain. Tired of trying to figure out how to trash all the used CD's you have lying around. Why not spend a happy afternoon painting them a solid color with acrylic paint and stringing them together to make a funky Warhol inspired room divider.

Another great craft supply is a burned out light bulb which after being primered can be painted to make great tree ornament and is a great Christmas craft project. Almost anything you were about to throw away can become a great craft idea. Your child's frayed denim jeans can become a great rag rug. A great arts craft project is a family quilt that you can make by collecting clothes that you have outgrown or that are torn. This is a great project that you can do with your child together.
