Even her name seems like a fairy tale. Taylor Swift often alludes to fairy tales in her songs and Im certain she would be the first to agree, that her life is a fairytale.
Most fairytales involve magic potions, spells, and even kissing frogs, but the Fairytale of Taylor Swift takes place mainly because of hard work and conviction. It's the story of a young girl that wants to be a successful musician and songwriter, and then makes it come about to a level that would seem not feasible.
As a child she was perhaps nothing out of the ordinary. In fact it seems she was picked on quite a bit, as are many children. But as she grew older, the magic appeared. When Taylor was 10 years old she was taught to play a few chords on the guitar. She progressed and began to submit her recordings all over Nashville. She played at country fairs and celebrations. But how was this girl to ever become a superstar? Especially in a world where overproduced high tech music was king? She was after all just a girl that writes love songs and plays the guitar.
But the magic did take place. She caught on like a brush fire, and in a very short time, her name became a household word.
She became a four time Grammy Award winner. She was the youngest artist ever and the first female country artist to win a Grammy for album of the year. She set a lot ofrecords for sales of her music, and became according to Forbes, the 12th most powerful celebrity. A mutli-multi millionaire. In January 2010 Nielsen SoundScan listed Swift as the most commercially successful country (or country/pop crossover) artist in music history with over 33 million digital tracks sold. But that's just the beginning.
Taylor had an audience like no other. Millions of young girls around the world felt that Taylor was their friend. They wanted to meet her and talk to her. And Taylor, as much as possible, made that take place. She held meet and greets and spoke to as many of her friends as possible. When she played in concert, she went out into the audience to be closer to her fans. She became a role model for millions based on the principles of love, hard work and being thankful.
Who would ever think this was possible? And the fairy tale is just beginning.
