Staying Modest, Comfortable, And Cool During Summer
The summer heat is rolling in. As I go about town, I am starting to see more and more halter tops, tight shorts, and miniskirts. However, even if the weather seems to warrant it, not everyone likes to bare so much skin to the world.
But I'm from Phoenix, so I know what it's like to want to keep cool and comfortable while remaining modest. Allow me to share my best advice on how to look great and stay cool while also maintaining the modest appearance you pride yourself on.
First off, be conscious of the fabrics you are choosing before you go outside. Wearing breathable materials is one of the main keys to being comfortable when you are out in the hot summer atmosphere.
Cotton is probably best known for its ability to promote good air circulation, but it is not the only fabric that you can wear. As you choose each outfit, try to imagine what it would be like to wear it underneath the blazing sun.
When you go shopping, always make it a point to buy lightweight, loose-fitting items. Even if the material itself does not feature prime "breathability," you can still feel relief from the heat if there is room enough between the clothing and your skin for a breeze to flow through.
Because Bermuda shorts have been a fashionable choice for the last few years, they are available in plenty, so be sure to stock up. These are shorts that come down to the knee or sometimes stop a little above it. They come in a variety of cloths, patterns, and styles.
If you are looking for versatility--especially if the weather in your area is volatile, as it is where I live--then you can purchase pants that feature a drawstring around the ankles. When you pull these, they transform your pants into Bermuda-style shorts.
Think about purchasing some lightweight button-up shirts. These can easily be paired with a lacey camisole so that you are covered, but you can be selective about how much you decide to button in order to cool off or cover up, depending on your need in the moment.
Skip the bikini this summer. The modest alternative is the tankini, which is much more flattering on almost every body type.
You might also opt for a pair of little swim trunks or a gossamer cover-up. Not only does this offer extra coverage for your legs, it can also save you from the horrors of having to shave your bikini line constantly!
Having a conservative appearance is not always easy, especially during the summer months. But once the weather changes yet again, you will be glad you did not compromise your standards.
