Staycation Trend To Continue This Summer

Staycation Trend To Continue This Summer

The staycation trend is set to continue this year

, as three quarters of Brits make plans for holidays within the UK. One ideal place for staycations is the Isle of Wight. Caravan and camp sites across the region are already reporting an increase in bookings on last year however hotels and guest houses have generally seen a drop in numbers.

Last year the Isle of Wight saw an increase in tourists making day trips after a successful social marketing campaign boosted visitor numbers.

This summer it's expected even more people will choose to stay in Isle of Wight caravan sites, attracted to the sandy beaches and natural beauty of the destination which has been a firm British favourite since the Victorian era. Isle of Wight cottages are another popular place to stay, especially with those who want to retain their home comforts whilst exploring the biggest island of England.

The island boasts a variety of attractions, including Osborne House which was once home to the Queen, the Amazon World Zoo Park full of tropical birds, animals and insects and Robin Hill Adventure Park. The natural heritage of the island has also made it popular with people seeking holidays focused on wildlife and geology.

The Isle of Wight is home to two of the most exciting music festivals in the country; the Isle of Wight Festival, which will be headlined by Jay-Z and Paul McCartney, and Bestival, headlined by the Prodigy and Flaming Lips. Both events draw a total of 90,000 music fans to the island in June and September respectively.

With recent reports that Hollywood actors Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart are set to buy a property on the island, it seems even the rich and famous are being drawn to the beauty and tranquillity of the Isle of Wight. The public endorsement of the area by two of the hottest film stars of the moment is expected to ensure the Isle of Wight has an even more buzzing summer this year.
