The University of Washington alumni association is a big
, non-profit alumni union with more than one hundred years old history. Today, approximately 50,000 alumni became its members. There are lots of benefits in joining the association, and moreover, not only postgraduates of the university may become members. Those, who make a substantial contribution for the benefit of the university or its alumni, may be rewarded with a membership card. 1. Among other benefits entertainment is on the first place. Alumni do not miss! There are several festivals and meetings which the association holds for its members, such as Homecoming festivities, Husky Happy Hours, Washington Warm Ups and others. 1.1. Homecoming festivities are held annually and include a Homecoming celebration, Bridging the Gap Breakfast and Dawg Dash walk for five and ten kilometers. 1.2. Husky Happy Hours usually takes place in Seattle. Alumni are welcomed at local restaurants and bars. They greet Huskies (football team of the university) and enjoy food and drinks. 1.3. Alumni usually have a Washington Warm Ups party before a football game. There are a lot of sport and fun, including food and drink and competitions for three hours long. 2. There are lots of activities from educational point of view, such as seminars, lecturers, networking and other meetings. Alumni events are held across the country. One may find them in Los Angeles as well as in New York and in many other cities. 3. The alumni association requires some donations in order to support itself. But it has a lot to give back: for example, membership in University of Washington alumni association brings some money back. There are a lot of discounts for alumni, such as Dawg Deals discount program.
