So, You Think You Know Better ?

So, You Think You Know Better ?

The Wisdom of Following a Proven System. If you have been in almost any network marketing or multi-level marketing company, you know that most of them have developed their own training and methods of running the business. Everything from learning the products to adding people to your business is covered in these trainings. If you have ever added more than a few people to your organization in these same companies, sooner or later you will find someone who thinks they know better. In fact, the two most common complaints heard from people you have recruited who are not as successful as they think they should be are probably "I don't do it that way" quickly followed by "The system doesn't work." Of course, these complaints fail to take into account that the person they are complaining to has used the system successfully. If the system didn't work, the person complaining wouldn't be in the company in the first place!

Everyone wants all the people in their organization to be successful. After all, a successful organization translates in a growing business which translates into money for everyone. There are a couple of ways to address these complaints. First, the "I don't do it that way" complaint. Start by having the person assess their success up to this point in any company. What did work? If it worked, why did they leave the company or stop using the method? What part of the current system would they do differently? (Even if a system is good doesn't mean there isn't room for improvement.) They are certainly welcome to try doing things their way; after all, you really can't stop them. When their way doesn't work, they'll be back.

The second complaint, "The system doesn't work," can be a little more complex. First, you need to do some careful questioning to see if the person is using the system correctly. Sometimes it is just a matter of retraining or changing something. More often, however, the system isn't working because the person really isn't plugged into the system. They have not taken the time to learn the system through training and/or they don't stay update by attending training calls or other company-offered training opportunities. You have to make sure they are aware of these training opportunities or find out of there is some reason they have not completed the training.

There are always people that expect something for nothing. People in your organization that use either of these complaints are high risk for leaving and that is okay. People that refuse to use a proven system (and refuse to learn) are not an asset and can take up a tremendous amount of your time and energy. You are better off if they leave your organization sooner rather than later. Be firm in your belief that the system can work for anyone that is willing to do the work and you will keep the people that you really want in your organization and weed out the others.
