Shopping Out Of Control

We have all heard that there are people who are addicted to shopping and use it a retail therapy

. These people, and yes, the majority of them ARE women, take shopping to a whole new level. If you are lucky, you will have enough money to meet your financial obligations and then have enough money to splash out on a few extra things, either luxuries or just extra stocking up. You may also decide that you want to go shopping just for fun and treat either yourself or someone else with gifts.

For some people, however, the problem is that they do not meet their financial obligations such as bills, rent, and savings etc. but instead decide to spend their money on luxuries instead. There are women who will set off to buy groceries and then come home with a new dress. There are different types of shopping addictions, such as shopping to impress others, shopping to feel better about something and shopping because there is a sale on. These days the problem is made worse due to the availability of online shopping and promo codes. Sites such as Overstock Promo Code make it even more tempting!

First it was no cash, no service. Then there was the debit card for those who had cash in their accounts. Then finally there was the almighty credit card, which is when things started to get out of control! With this, it did not matter if you had no money, you buy things on the understanding that you will have the money in the future, and will be able to pay for the product or service. The problems started when people started to buy things and then could not afford to pay the piper when the bill came.

In this way, there are millions of people in debt and struggling to hold on to things such as their house, their reputation and even their families. Still people continue to spend on things which they do not need and with things such as free online coupons and hunting for the correct promo code, they think that they are saving money. They could save money if they use promo codes for necessary purchases, but many will buy extra things and excuse it as getting a bargain. They need to recall the adages that even a bargain costs money.

It is tempting to try and cheer yourself up by going shopping, either online or in the traditional way of hitting the shops armed with a credit card and the determination that you will buy something to make you feel better. The high that you get from such a shopping trip is only short lived because as soon as you have finished, you feel guilty and want to return all the things that you know that do not really need. It is a vicious cycle, because the guilt will make you feel down and then you will want to try and cheer up again!
